Sandwich of Monte Cristo

Sandwich of Monte Cristo

Ingredients (per 2 sandwiches):

4 slices of soft toast bread
2 tsp. Mustard
2 tsp. Mayonnaise [You can use only mustard or just mayonnaise, to taste]
4 large thin slices of sliced (ham, sliced from a turkey breast, or both)
2 slices of a well-melting cheese of medium hardness (such as an emmental or gruyere)
1 egg
2 tablespoons Milk
a pinch of salt
2 tablespoons Butter
Jam and powdered sugar for filing (if desired, I did not use)

All 4 slices of bread grease or mayonnaise, or mustard. We slice 2 slices. We put cheese on top of the slicer. (In a «two-story» variant, another slice of bread is put between the ham and the cheese.)

Cover the sandwiches with the second slices of bread. Gently cut the edges of sandwiches with a wavy knife (an optional step, but they will look more accurate, and bread will be soaked with egg mixture.) Egg a little whisk with milk and salt, dip the sandwiches into the egg mixture and hold them in it for 30 seconds. Fire the butter.Wrap the sandwiches about two minutes on each side.

We turn the sandwiches carefully, with two spatulas. After turning over, lightly «press» the sandwiches with a spatula from above, so that the halves are better glued together. We remove sandwiches on a board, we wait a minute. Carefully cut them into triangular halves with a wavy knife. Served as a main course for lunch or dinner. You can serve a sandwich with jam and powdered sugar, but I did not really want to interfere with salty and sweet.

You can skip to the end and leave a response. Pinging is currently not allowed.
